The TCR International Series visits China’s Zhejiang Circuit, a 1.98 mile, 16 turn track, for the first time this weekend for the penultimate event of the 2017 season. 21 drivers will line up to take the green flag with Attila Tassi leading by a mere 2 points over J-K Vernay 179-177. Two-time and defending champion Stefano Comini is a further 12 points back with only four rounds remaining.
Tassi will have a tough go of it this weekend as he faces maximum success ballast of 30kg added to his car after scoring a healthy 28 points last time out at Chang International in Buriram. Dusan Borkovic and Giacomo Altoe will each have 10kg added.
You will notice two new machines on the grid as touring car legends Gabriele Tarquini and Alain Menu will pilot the new Hyundai i30 N, but will not be eligible to score points as the car is still under temporary homologation. Full homologation is planned to be completed after competing in these two Chinese rounds. Also joining the series this weekend will be the local ZZZ Team with two Audi RS3 LMS cars for Tengyi Jiang and Zhendong Zhang, who also race in the China Touring Car Championship. West Coast Racing will also field a VW Golf for Rafael Galiana and Denis Dupont joins Comtoyou Racing in a SEAT Leon.
TCR International Race 1 goes green on Sunday at 14:30 with Race 2 following at 16:05.
