Jonathan Giacon took the race 1 victory in his Tecnodom Racing Honda Civic after a flying start boosted him to the lead, finishing ahead of Eric Scalvini and brother Kevin Giacon. Pole sitter and championship contender Nicola Baldan jumped the start and would have to serve a drive-thru penalty, essentially ending his race before it began.
With only three laps of green flag running due to massive downpours, Pit Lane Competizione’s Nicola Baldan won in his SEAT Leon ahead of title rival Eric Scalvini and Kevin Giacon, who took two podium finishes on the weekend. Scalvini now takes the championship lead with 130 points to Baldan’s 123.
TCR Italy visits Vallelunga the weekend of September 22-24, the penultimate round of the 2017 season.
