Dusan Borkovic made a fantastic start to nab the lead from pole-sitting Mat’o Homola as the lights went out and never looked to take the race 1 victory. Homola would go on to finish second with Stefano Comini and his ComeToYouRacing Audi RS2 LMS grabbing the final podium position after starting 8th and quickly charging through the field.
Thomas Jager would finish in an impressive 4th position on his TCR International debut with Pepe Oriola coming home fifth in his Craft-Bambook SEAT.
It was a clean and exciting race for the first half, but on lap 8 there was a major incident for Rob Huff in what looked like contact with Duncan Ende, causing the first of two safety car periods. The race went back to green on lap 11 (and extended to 17 total laps), but on lap 15 it was JK Vernay’s turn to take a trip to the sand, causing the second safety car, which lead to a red flag and race finish.
Race 2 from Salzburgring starts at 14:35 local time.
