The TCR Series has moved their round at the Hungaroring forward to June 17th and 18th, one week after the Salzburgring event. The original date had the series circus traveling from Oschersleben to Budapest, a distance of over 1,000km, in back to back weekends. While the teams still have back to back weekends following the Salzburgring rounds, the travel distance is now cut down to 600km.
TCR promoter Marcello Lotti said, “We have decided to bring forward the Hungaroring event because of logistics reasons. The original schedule, with back-to-back race meetings in Budapest and Oschersleben would have involved a trip of nearly one thousand kilometres for the teams’ trucks. Racing at the Hungaroring one week after Salzburgring will reduce the driving to six hundred kilometres. And on top of this, being with DTM will add a lot of glamour to the event.”
The series is also working with M1RA Honda and JAS Motorsport to get Hungarian Norbert Michelisz in a car to help promote the event by getting the hometown hero back on track.
